Then Bandmaster Hender­son, Ky.; musical director and cornet soloist with Mahara's Minstrels. Band­master, music teacher Agricultural and Mechanical Coll., Huntsville, Ala. To Clarksdale, Miss., taught K. of P. Band and Orchestra, and began original composition, organized music publishing business 1913. Member Natl. Assoc, of Negro Musicians, Inc.; Natl. Assoc, of Amer. Com­posers and Conductors; Negro Ac­tors' Guild of Amer. School in native town on 15-acre tract named for him. Theater, also public square, Memphis, bear his name. Similar honors N.Y.
